Artist Van Gogh's Ear Cut Own

Legendary painter of Dutch origin that exhibit the results of self-mutilation through a painting
Exactly 122 years ago, the legendary Dutch painter, Vincent van Gogh, doing sensational. He accidentally cut his left ear dengan razor blade and showed her latest appearance with paintings.


Pages of The History Channel television station said the painter who suffered from psychiatric disorders that do desperate acts at his residence in the city of Arles, France. Van Gogh and then document the incident through a painting titled "Self Portrait with Bandaged Ear" (Self-portrait with Wrapped Ears).


Today, Van Gogh was known as one of the genius painter and his paintings sold for record high prices. Even so, during his lifetime Van Gogh is a form of the boy who tormented and poor. He only sold one painting.

Vincent Willem van Gogh was born on March 30, 1853 in the Netherlands. Closed and shy personality, van Gogh worked on an art gallery. He then worked as a pastor in the community of poor miners in Belgium.
In 1880, van Gogh decided to become a painter. The result of his work is famous in those days called The Potato Eaters, 1885 (The potato eaters). His paintings depict the dark and dreary life that he experienced with poor farmers and miners.


In 1886, Van Gogh moved to Paris and lived with his younger brother. Theo, an art dealer to give financial support and introduce Van Gogh to a number of painters like Paul Gauguin, Camille Pisarro, and Georgeus Seurat. Influence of these people and some other painters who enrich van Gogh painting. He started using more colors in his paintings.


In 1888, Van Gogh rented a house in Arles, southern France. There, Van Gogh hoped to find the arts community and not burden her sister. In Arles, Van Gogh painted bright colors that appear genuine countryside, including a series of sunflower paintings are very famous. Gauguin went to live with van Gogh in Arles, and they worked almost two months.


As their relationship heats up, Van Gogh who was suffering from dementia threatening Gauguin with a knife before mutilated his own ear. Afterwards, van Gogh's bandaged ear and gave the pieces to a prostitute in a brothel.


After the incident, Van Gogh received treatment at the hospital of Arles and psychological testing in Mental Hospital Saint-Remy for one year. During his stay in Saint-Remy, Van Gogh was in a period of anger and creativity. Some works that emerged during this period and was known until now, including Starry Night (1889) and irises (1889) ..


In May 1890, Van Gogh moved to Auvers-sur-Oise, near Paris. There, van Gogh continued to be plagued with despair and loneliness. July 1890, van Gogh committed suicide and his chest shot two times. He died two days later at the age of 37 years.
