History of CPU

CPU (Central Processing Unit) is a major part in the form of computer hardware and is the "brains" of his computer. CPU functions found on all types of computers is to process the data entered via the keyboard and displayed through the monitor screen.
The development of the CPU can be divided into several periods.

First Generation
ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer), produced by IBM in 1945 is one of the "fathers" super-size computer that big. Just imagine, with a device consisting of 18,000 air-tight tube, it takes a room area of 18 × 8 square meters for operation! Nearly half a football field wide!

The development of first-generation CPU continues with the birth EDVAC (Electronic Discrete Variable Automatic Computer) smaller. While the UNIVAC (Universal Automatic Computer) was the first large-size computer that is used for business purposes in 1951's.

Second Generation
The discovery of the transistor in 1956 became the beginning of the computer revolution. Transistors replaced vacuum tubes in televisions, radios, and computers so that its size becomes much smaller than before. Transistors also create demand for electricity will be lower.

In this period becoming known programming language. With programming language, the computer starts a lot of people because it is easy to understand terms used to enter data is no longer binary numbers but has been in the form of text.

At this time, the computer more and more used for business purposes because this thing has been able to perform the functions of a business transaction.

Third Generation
The discovery of IC (integrated circuit) by Jack Kilby in the 1960's a milestone marker of the computer revolution, especially the CPU. IC shut weakness caused by the use of transistors on the CPU heat make your computer faster.

Although in many cases, the vacuum tube transistors, but the use of transistors generate considerable heat that potentially damage the parts inside the computer.

Quartz stone managed to overcome this problem. IC combined three electronic components in a small silicon disc made of quartz sand. Then the scientists managed to condense a lot of CPU components into a single chip called a semiconductor.

Ditemukannnya operating system as part of the software may also be an important marker of this generation.

Fourth Generation
Making the Intel 4004 chip in 1971 by Intel to bring significant progress for the development of the CPU. That's when merging the previously separate components of the device CPU into reality. Components such as memory, bus, and processor can be put together in only one small chip devices.

Computers are no longer of a football pitch or the size of buildings and rooms. Computer turned into a far more mini. Then in the early 1970s, computers began to be produced for all people, not just limited to big business.

If the previous CPU in a computer separate from the screen, the discovery of a laptop in the early 1990s to change the paradigm that the computer must be on one particular spot. Especially at that time the human need for portable computing devices everywhere began to rise. So the discovery of a laptop into a very exciting news. That's when the CPU started to integrate with the monitor screen.

The era of globalization characterized by the internet revolution in early 1990. The paradigm of human-computer named objects more flexible again. Thanks to Internet technology that allows various access to information, people increasingly want to travel around the world.

As it was, developed the term mobile business professional. Distance is no obstacle. The need devices that support each other even absolutely necessary, namely communication devices plus computer equipment. If the previous laptop that is connected to the Internet network via modem is sufficient, then for some business people have to be quick and efficient pace certainly needed a more supportive devices again.

Early 2006 came a new term "netbook", another form of latop smaller but with the maximum ability to surf plus basic facilities equipped offices. It appears also coincided with the term smartphone with the birth of products like the Blackberry and iPhone.

Further developing trend is the merging of CPU with monitor device, known as tablet PCs. An example is Ipad.

Future Generations
Computers were created to facilitate human affairs. Many movies and novels that describe how computer technology in the future, which is essentially the computer is positioned as a friend or friend of human beings who have intelligence like a human. Artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence) is already can be seen for example in robot technology. The software that sounds familiar, can type in a voice or fingerprint to open computer with a few examples of computer forerunner of future generations.
